The cannonball run team was formed in 2003 by 2 brothers and a cousin
all by the family name Messina.
They entered karting half way through the 2003 season in an Arrive
and drive championship finishing 2nd in their first ever race. By the
end of the season they had taken 4th place in the championship.
2004 was Cannonball run’s first full season, which saw them claim a deserved first
victory of many that year. Reliability problems with the hire karts
meant they finished lower than they expected in 5th
place. Ultimately this triggered the teams move to owner driver
championships.
2004 also saw cannonball run join forces with another team to create Team
Azzurri. Team Azzurri travelled to France and competed in the Le Mans 24
hour kart race. Determination in the team saw them not only complete
the full distance but finish in the top 10.
In 2005 Cannonball run joined the UK ProKart Endurance Championship. They were
now a little fish in a big pond, but a very quick little fish. The three
team members learnt so much in a single season. Not only did they visit new
tracks but they had to prepare their own kart too. After a few teething
problems Cannonball run finished the season strong bringing them to a
respectable 12th out of 23 in the Clubman division.
2006 sees Cannonball Run’s first full season in the UK ProKart Endurance
Championship. The team now searching for their first podium and their elusive
maiden win

podium with 3rd place at Buckmore !!
